Meet Our Leadership Team
Sam Glanders
Sam Glanders has dedicated over 13 years to military service, including 11 years in Special Operations. He currently serves in the Indiana National Guard. In 2020, Sam founded SAGE with the mission to prioritize Veterans. Today, over 50% of the SAGE team consists of Veterans. In his free time, Sam enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children.
Derek Spaulding
Derek Spaulding joined the team in November 2022. He joined the company to help lead the Private Utility Locating division. His responsibilities include managing the field staff, business development, and performing private utility locates. Derek holds a bachelors degree from Purdue University in Building Construction Management. In his spare time, he enjoys playing and coaching ice hockey, golfing, cooking, and spending time with his friends and family.
Robert Verworn
Robert Verworn grew up in the scenic outdoors of Montana, where he developed a strong connection to nature. His time in the Army was a pivotal period in his life, where he not only served but also met his business partner, Sam. During his service, he learned Dari and Pashtu in preparation for a deployment to Afghanistan, where he became immersed in the local population, sparking a lasting curiosity and appreciation for different cultures around the world. After his military career, Robert pursued higher education, earning two master’s degrees: an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and an MSc from the London School of Economics.
Robert’s career has spanned multiple fields and countries, including stints in China and Africa. His work has largely focused on problem-solving and project management, utilizing his diverse experiences to tackle complex challenges across various industries.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending quality time with his soon-to-be wife and their two dogs, cooking, and traveling.
